The last house on the left there next to the shop, I had a mate that lived there in the 60's. Not a long time mate in fact we only hung around together for about six months as I went off on one of my summer long trips to the west coast. If I remember correctly his name was Malcolm. If I remember correctly the 43 bus stop was outside his front door.

I don't think we have done a photo of The Nechells Park, so here are a couple. An older one and one shortly before it closed.

Phil, thank you for the pictures of Nechells park pub, I can remember meeting Pat Roach the wrestler/actor in bar one lunch time break when I worked in Eliot st. I think he may have had something to do with the scrap yard next to the pub in cuckoo rd.
Well lets try and show the kids of today how life was then 1950's before PlayStation's and xbox's was even dreamed of, it me in the backyard making I don't know what but I seem to be miles away for I did not realize my dad was taking the photo at the time.

I think Allsopps was before you and I, as they merged with Ind Coope in 1935. I would think that the photo was taken around that time.

Hi all

Blane, I only remember that part of long acre being flat open ground and the few buildings that was left in the area was the BRS depot and the school.

Phil, I have seen the older shot of the Nechells park pub elsewhere and the year thy dated the photo was 1958?

Gibson I have no doubt that my mom did purchase her bloomers from Bulivants some time or another over the years she lived there. so here is two bill heads to remind you of the old shop one is from the 1970's and the other one is from 1993 which happen to be the last time I saw Peter Greenway.if we looked across the other side of the road we would have seen Smiths the the barbers and clock repairs shops.

Pudding,

I wouldn't doubt your version of the earlier photo of the Nechells Park PH  date at all, as I was only guessing.
