It was on the corner of Taylor St at 279 Bloomsbury st. Miss Doris Tucker according to Kelly's 1937. Here is a photo of the shop in 1964.

Hi Pudding/Phil.  -  As a teenager I used to look in the shop window and drool over a green Ducatti racing bike that they had on show. That's all I did,I could never afford a motor bike.

Hey hello everyone,
I was looking for pictures of dollman st and came across your forum, I  lived at 110 dollman street  altho i left in 1975 my family were one of the last to leave before  it was totally demolished there was only my family and  a strange guy who lived in a house down the bottom of the street who rode a bike his house stood on its own. I lived oppersite the watsons  then there was a factory an don's garage i remeber tants and the fellows outdoor we used to go round the back cus they had a grandson called ricky  that used to stay sometimes so we would call for him an nick the bottles an take  them back to the shop for the refund ; ;) my brother used to go around with sugar ray taroni. and like telstar  we as kids used to use that door on dudestion mill rd to go into the railways sheds and down to the sleepers at  alma cresent the times we were chased was unreal lol we always had coke for the fire and fire wood as well  actually i am wondering if i know telstar because all the things he did we did too. The swifts lived a couple of doors down from us and we were always together. many thanks for the memorys i still miss that street :(

Good Morning Loron

Welcome to our forum, I'm afraid that Telstar is no longer a member of this forum so you will be unable to share any further memories with him. There are other members on here that share the same background as yourself that you may remember. I myself lived in the next street to yourself Inkerman Street, but I think from what you say in your post I may be a little older.

I think all the kids in the neighbourhood got themselves into those cleaning sheds at one time or another, though you would rarely get to the bottom of those stairs before getting caught. I was always more apt to get into the carriages on the sidings myself as they only checked them out occasionally.

Loron

I would be some 11 years older than you, so I doubt that I would remember you or any of your friends. I didn't tend to socialise much in Nechells other than using the local pubs and dating a couple of the local girls. Though I did hang around for a while with some local lads in the park opposite the Tom Thumb. Most of my weekends other than that were spent in town or in Balsall Heath.

Hello Miggy welcome, what pub was that? The Aderlaide? did you live in the flats or the old houses on the other side of the road? Did you go to St Vincents? Dek
