It's a possibilty, but I have looked in all the Kelly's that I have and I can see no sign of a Wines and Spirits shop. Which it obviously is, I dont think it would be listed as beer retailer as I don't see one advert for beer, ale or stout in the window.

Perhaps it was a legacy from the Calvary Barracks, you can bet those Hussars liked a tipple or two.

Hi Phil

Have just been going down memory lane and stumbled across this site. Have read some interesting bits, and some of the names and certainly the places are very familiar. I went to Nechells Eliot street School and lived in a few places within Nechells  I.E. Holborn Hill, Cuckoo Rd, Warton St, Needham St. The reason i was browsing the net was, To find any Photos of The Train sheds located in Long Acre Shed code 3D do you or any other members know where i could find any?. Great site will be reading  more

Hi Sampuri,

Welcome to our site, I don't think I can help you with a photo of Long Acre Sheds, but we have some rail enthusiasts that come on site now and again one in particular Albert (Saltley 21A) that may possibly be able to help you.

Just taking a trip down memory lane, some great pics have stirred some great memories. Anyone have any pics of Reservoir inn on Lichfield road / Cuckoo bridge or Stamping Alliance "drop Forge" Argyle street/Warton Street. These places bring back some good childhood memories as I was bought up in Cuckoo road, I do remember the 43 bus terminus and the Bundy clock in Cuckoo Road. Ripleys Paper shop was opposite.
