Ive been to several over the last 2 weeks Ed, all i  witnessed were people enjoying themselves, after a drink or 3. no drugs whatsoever or damage.

This was at the Olton Tavern Solihull.

Playing Fields - Visits to the playing fields in Rookery Rd, Handsworth was another high point in my school week, seems ironic the school was so close to Burbury Park and we were still bussed to Rookery Rd, understandable - Burbury Park in those days was just a barren wasteland, don't know what it's like now.

The club was originally the Saltley Picture Palace in the silent film era (see photo), I suppose it closed when they built the Rock cinema. It then became a social club and later a nightclub, and at the end of it's days probably after the fire that you mention it became an indoor market.
