Don't worry her name wasn't Anne anyway it was a while before 1974, it would have to have been pre 70's. More to the point she is still about and I see her occasionally so I would never embarrass her by giving her name out.

The Outrigger was a nice pub and I had a lot of fun working there. We had a lot of guys coming in from the Bull Ring and also a lot of railroad guys. Can't remember, but I guess there was a railroad station somewhere close by.

You were right next door to Moor St Station, in fact you were overlooking it. Its the building to the left of the Outrigger on the photo.

Wow, brilliant photo. Moor Street Station, oh right. So was the pub like on stilts? Have no memory of that other than it was on two floors. Does it still exist?

Hi Dek

I think you are right, the Outrigger would have been where the bus lane is in this photo (to the right).

Here are  a couple of photos that were posted on another site by someone who uses the name Zak, as they posted them to the site I am sure they won't mind me posting them here. They are of the inside of the Outrigger, they must be of the lower floor.

Yes I can see where your coming from now,I never actually went into the pub but by the photos Phil posted it looked an interesting place.
I have to admit when I first saw The Outrigger name mentioned I could only think of the pub opposite The Bull Ring Tavern with the big ship on the corner wall, but that was called The Royal George (I think :D )but a question has suddenly come to mind
Why would Brum have 2 pubs with a nautical theme? ???

I didn't think the George had a nautical theme but then I was only ever in there once. It is still there. The Ship Ashore (definitely nautical) was at the top end of Digbeth (was this the Outrigger renamed?) so maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Yes The Ship ashore was the outrigger renamed, I never went in there when it was called that so it must have been renamed sometime in the 70's.
