Hi All
I agree with what people have said about Carl Chinnor he does get things wrong and has a terrible false brummie accent but he is a real character in his own right.
Also I'm sure the "Andy Carrier " lady wasn't blind. What a character she was though. I can still hear her in my mind.

no she was not blind and she had her own cup for drinking her tea from the café  her cup was filled for two pence in old money I know because I went now and then to get it  for her that would be about 65 years ago

I remember the Andy Carrier lady well.  She might have been blind in one eye as when I knew her she always wore a black eye patch.  She was small and thin with a swarthy complexion.

I would be about 10 years old  I guess, and my Granddad used to take me down the market, where he was a bit of a character. He used to stop and talk to ANDY CARRIER lady. Now, I never did ask him, but Granddad was a Romany Gypsy, or from Romany stock (Black Patch) and I am just wondering if she was also Romany? Jack used to box in a booth at The Onion Fair, for Pat Collins senior. He knew everyone in the old Rag Market. He lived in a long wooden bungalow (a long shed really) in Glenavon Road, Kings Heath. That would be in 1950.

Found this photo of what says the Carrier Bag Lady

Was it a vision, or a waking dream?

Quite correct Roy I got a bit mixed up. It was actually Birmingham flower seller Katie Kelly passed away June 2016.
