I grew up in Donnington House in the 60s (the same bloke that Roy Wood lived  in) & I went to Blakenhale infants & juniors until 1969. We moved out of the flats to Admington Road and I passed my 11+ and went to Byng Kenrick Girls grammar school in Tile Cross. My older sister went to Cockshut Hill school and my youngest sister went to Sheldon heath comp! Whenever I fly from Birmingham airport I always look at where the 5 blocks of flats used to be.

Two men who drowned on a holiday in Malta have been named as Dr Lyace Ali and Dr Kameron Shabir, both dentists from Birmingham.

A third dentist, Hussein Ahmed, with whom Dr Ali and Dr Shabir were partners in a practice in The Pool Way, Sheldon, also got into difficulties in the sea.

He survived after being rescued by passers-by
