48, 49 & 50 were the Moseley Road routes, roy: the 50 went to Alcester Lanes End via Moseley Road & Alcester Road; and I think either the 48 or 49 went to town from Moseley Village but veered off down Leopold Street.

In the late 50's I think it was the 18 went to the top of the Holloway.

There was also an 18a that went towards the Holloway but I'm not sure where it turned around

If it's the same #18 that I'm thinking about, at the other end it terminated at The Valley pub in Yardley Wood and got there via Alcester Lanes End.    A route I've never been on.

;D ;D ;D  It's not your age Roy it seems to me every time folk got used to a bus route they would change the number,,,,your right about the 13 it ended up at Ravenshill Rd in Yardley Wood.

It later got renumbered as #3, at the same time as the #24 became the #2.

#3 must be the most kicked-about route number there ever was.    I think it started out as a Harborne route via Ridgacre Road; then it replaced the #13; after that it became a lengthened version of the old #29 route but carried on past the Baldwin to Solihull; and now it's a daytrippers' dream that seems to wind its way from Knowle to Wythall via Solihull.    Apologies for any errors  -  I'm doing all this from memory. :-[

In the sixties the number 3 ran from the city, I'm not sure if it was Bull Street or Colmore Row to the junction of Ridgacre Lane and Quinton Rd West.

You're right about the #50, roy, it DID eventually go to the Maypole but I was thinking about the route as it was immediately after the trams had gone, when it used to terminate at a turning circle just past the dog track entrance at Alcester Lanes End.    The turning circle is still there today but is now unused.     Can't help you with the #48 or #49 as I never used them.
