Advise needed

Hi all,

I'll be moving to work nr Birmingham later this month. My main work base will be from Quartz Point business park (B46 3JL), north of M42, J6 - accessed from Coventry rd then northbound onto Chester rd A452 (from south).

My question is, would commuting by car from Moseley be too problematic, which, according to route planner is around a 13 mile commute.

The route planner suggests around 30min journey - would it be fair to assume I should double this during rush hour, or is this being too conservative? I know it will vary depending on whether NEC etc have events on, but keen to know roughly how much to add on to journey times at peak times.

If advised Moseley is probably too far, Solihull is my current plan B. I'm looking for somewhere within sensible commuting distance, but also a good neighbourhood and lively area to socialise and meet new people - so I'm open to suggestions!

I'm currently based in Cornwall, so could do with a good idea of which area/s it would be sensible to focus rental search on before heading up to view any properties.

Any advice would be really appreciated. Apologies for this being a bit of a boring post for most who read it!

Hi Jon
Have you thought about Coleshill just up the road, not the busiest of spots but quite a nice place to live. It's less than half an hour from the City Centre with a good wind behind you.
You are right about doubling the travel time for Moseley during peak periods, but plan B Solihull is almost on the doorstep and they are all pretty fast roads to your place of employment after hitting the A45 south of Sheldon on a good day 10 - 15 minutes from there.
