Does any one have knowledge of Jenny Hughes who worked as a telephonist around 1956 at the sorrento she loved trad jazz and lived near Warley park I have friends that new her and would welcome news.
Regards Ken.
Do not judge a house by its appearance but by the warmth of the welcome.

Hello,
I was born at the Sorennto on 5th November 1956.
I lived with my parents in Jutland Road, Billesley and attended Wheelers Lane Primary School for 10 years before moving to Worcester.
I now live in the back waters of Cyprus but Birmingham will always be my home City and very proud to say so.

 Before my   time   at Sorrento
I   did my    training there  and  worked  as  midwife   before moving . I  have not   seen the area recently  but the hospital is   now demolished  and  houses on the site .  I have happy memories  of  working there.

Does anyone know the actual address of the Sorrento Maternity Hospital?  I was born there in 1943 and want to visit when I next come back to Birmingham.

It was located on Wake Green Rd the B4217, but appears to have been replaced by new homes, it was between Church Rd and Anderton Park Rd

The actual postal address of the Sorrento was 15 Wake Green Road Moseley it was located just by Anderton Park Rd. but as Coastal says it has now been replaced by new buildings.

Many thanks to Coastal and Phil for the info about the Sorrento's address. It looked like a fine old building and it seems a shame that it was pulled down. However, I will definitely visit the site soon.
By the way, I have a few photographs, mostly school groups, from about 1949. These include Ada Rd Primary, Queensbridge School and Waverley Grammar. Would anyone be interested in taking them off my hands?
