Bike North Birmingham 'Winter Commuter Challenge'
« on: September 19, 2014, 01:18:45 PM »
Challenge yourself this Winter to save money, get fit and have fun! Don’t let the darker nights and chilly weather put you off getting out and about on your bike, there’s still lots of fun to be had and plenty of cycling to be done!
Bike North Birmingham is challenging employees in Erdington & Sutton Coldfield to cycle or walk to work, as often as you can over the Winter months with our ‘Winter Commuter Challenge’. By logging your journeys on our new ‘please cylce’ app each day you’ll be in the running to win £25 Love2shop vouchers as well as loads of other goodies every week! To help you get from A to B, we have route maps available to download from our website which will show you the best route to take to work by bike, foot and rail.

Our challenge starts on Monday 6th October 2014 and finishes Friday 30th Jan 2015, but entrants can register at any point during the challenge and get cycling. Registering is straightforward, simply visitwww.bikenorthbirmingham.org.uk/winterchallenge and enter your name and workplace. There’s nothing like a bit of friendly competition to make winning all the sweeter so the more colleagues, friends and family members you can involve, the better.

We’ll be giving away weekly prizes at random to any participants who log their jorneys so everyone has a chance of winning. Our weekly prizes include a range of Winter cycling kit, £25 Love2shop vouchers, gloves, bike lights, waterproofs and loads more to get you through the festive period! Our brilliant prizes aren’t the only benefit of taking part in this challenge, it will also help you to reduce your travel costs and emissions, burn calories, get fit and improve your health and well being.

For those of you who are not confident in cycling, give us a call on 0121 633 5514 for information on local classes where our highly trained and friendly instructors can give you the confidence to cycle on the road. We can also help you plan your route  to and from work and take you on a test run to make sure you’re happy with your journey.

For a quieter journey to work check out the many dedicated cycling and walking routes running through parks and other scenic areas in Birmingham, you may be surprised at how close you are to our network of traffic-free routes.
