Hello, good evening and help?
« on: December 06, 2014, 05:08:57 PM »
Hi, new to the forum. Born and bread in Brum. Hamstead end of Great Barr and Handsworth Wood area, before escaping to the middle of Wales.
I've been looking at some photo's that were in my Granfathers possession, he was born and lived a while in Balsall Heath Rd.
Amongst these photo's were these 2 of what looks like a ceremonial funeral with associated gun carriage. After a lot of trawling it looks very much as if the church shown is St Paul's on the Moseley Rd, now no longer there.
Does anybody have a clue as to whose funeral it was? These pictures would probably have been in the early 1900s

Hi Chris

There is no doubt that the church in question is St Pauls, which stood at the junction of St Pauls Rd and Moseley Rd in Balsall Heath which back then was in the district of Kings Norton. I have no idea who's funeral it was, but you could try the new church centre in Edward Rd which is an amalgamation of St Pauls and the United Reform Church where I'm sure the records of St Pauls must now be.
