The Bicycle Thief - an unwelcome personal irony: when my daughter was aged 13, and we were living near the Banner's Gate entrance to Sutton Park, she had her bike stolen and although it was post-coded it was never recovered. >:(

Astute(?) observation, Spud, but these days it's more a case of Suffering with the Wind :-[

The latest Version 4 of the plan of the school is shown below, this differs from versions 1-3 in respect of the hideous first floor extension to the front elevation (faced Farm Street), I had previously reasoned it was likely the extension had been added as part of the upgrade to a senior school (the extension, when the school achieved senior status, accommodated the Domestic Science Lab, staff room and Science Lab. I recently saw an aerial shot of the school dated 1950 which showed the extension, so the extension was actually built when the the school was still Burbury Street Board School.
It is unlikely the plan will be revised again.

Not sure love is the right word, Ed, more a compulsion to record everything I can remember about the place, for the sake of posterity, now that no trace remains, not even one brick on top of another :-[

Peg, didn't love my school LEA VILLAGE SEC MOD but liked it very much. The teachers where great, you could ask them anything and get good answer from them.

Is the building still standing?

I'm 73 today :(  so next month it will be 57 years exactly since I left HLS to seek my fortune in the wide, wide world of endless opportunities, these days I seem to be getting less and less happy birthday cards dropping through the letterbox, so, when I heard the letter flap drop this morning I moved liked the wind to see what had a arrived, sure enough a letter, but not a happy birthday card - A Simple Cremations flyer.
Ah well! That's life.
