Lightwoods Park
« on: May 18, 2015, 10:48:18 AM »
Lightwoods Park was a great meeting place for us in the 60's. We would frequent the shelter in the park and play our transistor radios. There were two distinct groups. The bikers who stayed close to the bus station and burger hot dog bar close to the number 9 bus stop. I remember, Terry Foster, Martin Parkes, Brett Price, Paul Bartlett, Billy Bradley, Lynne Jenkinson, June, Hetty, Killer, and Tat. Then the ones from the shelter, Johnny Heaven (Evo) Jeff Grogan, Mushy, Brian and Raymond Powell, Graham Gibson, Fish, John Masefield, Liz Monaghan, and others whose names escape me. I would love to know what happened to them all. I remember we sometimes, when it was really cold, about 5 or 6 of us would get on the number 11 bus with a bottle of pop, a couple of oranges or chocolate - if we could afford it- and go around the whole circuit and back to where we started! It got us off the streets and kept us out of trouble.
Onwards and upwards!
