Great quote from a Birmingham forum moderator.

Exactly, why would anybody want to move too far from Brum?

Miss/Mr Townie, with all the comments I want to know if you are for or against Brum and areas such as Alum Rock, Saltely, Small Heath etc?

Are you for or against us that moved out and onto other places, I am not getting your point.

I moved from my parents house in Sparkbrook when I got married. Then in 1984 I had a change of business we had premises in Aston at the time then we bought a hotel in Pembrokeshire. And I wouldn't live in any city now as they are one gigantic rat race.

We moved from our home in Sheldon due to work prospects.  Moved to Sussex and having seen and experienced life in my current location now I would never come back to Brum.  I would never have achieved what I have done over the past forty years if I had remained in the city.  Happy childhood memories but that is all I want from the city of my birth .

Having read the posts and a little referendum, it looks like no one will every return to Birmingham.

I don't class people who have moved out to the suburbs of places like Solihull, Wythall, and Sutton Coldfield as moving away from Brum.

townie,
I think if things change slowly, people don't notice so much as people that have been way from Brum for a while and then go back    :(      :o

Fred Why not hold a forum referendum ask all the people on this forum who was born or brought up in Birmingham but  have now moved. Would they move back to Birmingham?
I will start a new thread.
