Wow. Found someone. I worked for Tony Smith in W.E.D. Knew most of the carpenters during my years there. My name is Joan Flood, but before I was married I was Joan Cheese.

Can’t recall you, but remember Trevor. Lots of other names come to mind, Frank Cockaine, Sid King, Ray Phipps, and from electricians, Frank Wilson, Roy Knowles, Arthur Thomas,Edgar Barnsley. Fitters, Clem Rushton, Gran Fitton, Archie Hunter the storeman. Haven’t been near the place in 40 years. Raised to the ground now, but where W.E.D. stood is a mosque apparently.

My grandfather was Engineering Manager at Southalls until he died in 1973. His name was Frank Oates. His son Robert worked there also.
