Alum Rock Images 1970-1980
« on: October 16, 2015, 04:29:01 PM »
There used to be a Pub at the junction of College Road and Alum Rock,(Alum Rock Hotel)??  Its now no more and the building has changed its use. Has anybody got any images of this old pub or could even tell me if that was its name!  Across Alum Rock Road away from the city use to be a Take a way called The Kandhor. Again anybody got any images?  Thanks for any help.

Hi Assessor69

Welcome to you, if you mean the Rock public house that was on the corner of Alum Rock Rd & Bowyer road (the road before college road). I'm sorry but I only have a photo of the pub not long after it closed. I hope this might be of some use to you as I have never come across a photo of it as a working pub, but I don't doubt there is one out there somewhere.

Thank You very much Phil, I've been looking for years for an image of this old Pub. I've never found a Postcard of this section of Alum Rock Road with the Pub on although I agree with you there must be several out there!!  We'll have to keep looking!!

That's a pub I have been in. My farther had a friend that lived by that pub and it was his local, and I went with my mum and dad for a night out there.....in the days when you had to be in a pub before 8 o'clock to get a seat.

There are not many photos of the Rock pub when it was up and running. But there are a few out there.

Hi Colinf

Welcome to the forum, I have used both the establishments that you mention though not as a regular. Do you have any photos of the Olive Branch before the recent alterations. As I used to have one, but somehow it went astray and I would like to replace it as I have been unable to find another the same.
