Marston Green And The Back Of The Airport
« on: January 16, 2016, 09:03:35 PM »

This is a picture I took of the Clubhouse situated just behind Marston Green Station. I will upload various pics I have of this area from the mid-70's to early 80's over time. All pictures are in B & W developed by myself. Naturally, the resolution is better on the originals and I would prefer to post better quality but I don't think this board will handle that - so lo-res it is.
Now, where did I put my time machine ....

Various view of Marston Green Station:

-1- On the old bridge, looking towards Birmingham

-2- View of the new bridge from Elmdon Lane

-3- Another view of the new bridge from Elmdon Lane[/size]

-4- On the new bridge, looking towards the old bridge (and Birmingham)

-5- View on the old bridge as an express train comes down. Notice the old car?

-6- The slow train pulling in.

-7- View of Marston Green from the old bridge, I think.

-8- Another view of Marston Green from the old bridge, I think.

-9- View of some of the houses but not sure from which bridge

-10- Further up from -9-

-11- Walking up the bank from -10-

-12- Another view of the bank from -11-

-13- A view of the old station from Elmdon Lane.

-14- Another view of the old bridge.

-15- Yes another view from the old bridge looking towards Birmingham

Perhaps people can help locate the precise locations for some of the bank shots.

Now, where did I put my time machine ....

Frederick I know a Brian Cole I think that his family may have come from the Marston Green area I have know him for more than 50 years and I am still in contact with him. Like his Father [Dennis] they  both worked for Lucas I guess that Brian would be around 74/75 years old.

Spud,
I forget which firm he came from. In 1968 Fisher & Ludlow were taking on labour for the then new XJ6 and that is where we met, as he lived just along from me he was in Solihull I was having a lift off him. And a couple of times we went to his mums house in Marston Green on the way home. he was into the BMC mini racing and he would be off racing his car most week ends. He was there at F&L for the rest of his working life, I left to go into business in 1979 I did pop back about to say hello a year later and they were all still working there.

Hi Townie,

I would prefer the images to go out hi-res as there are interesting details you can zoom into. May be useful for future historians.

All the best,

G
