I think one of mine lived in Summer Lane, I have a great photo of him, I will post it when I can find it.

Never having wasted any of my allotted three score and ten watching such rubbish, though I think we can safely assume that Mary led a very sheltered life, or so she would have us assume.

I think Mary Whitehouse might have thought that, I certainly think she thought she was related to god inasmuch as she wanted to give is her version of what we should watch on television, I don't think she would have had much time for peaky blinders even before it became more about sex than the story, that's if what I read here is true. Though I have to say she had one thing right most of the programmes in the TV are rubbish, but it's our choice if we watch them or not and it certainly wasn't hers.

Sex on the telly isn't what it used to be, I blame the flat screen tv,
Do unto others before they do unto you.

You want to watch you don't fall off and do yourself some damage. LOL

I think my Mum's Dad would have enjoyed the show!  He would certainly have related to the character's WWI experiences having been in the trenches himself. And from the tales I remember him telling me when I was a kid I don't think there would be too much that would shock him!

As I said in a previous post he would have been a young man at the time that the shows so far have been set in.  There were family connections with the gypsy families and I always got the impression that my Granddad was someone you wouldn't have messed with (I think my Dad was quite scared of him when he first started dating my mother).
