I'm all for a ban on text talk, it's okay for kids and half-wits, but not on a forum like this. O0

Expecting members to post things we can actually read, in ENGLISH, is not being Grunpy, the whole point of text speak, is for when you are using a phone, very small buttons, on the go, the hint is in the name TEXT, this isn't texting, I get 5000 texts a month, I sent 1 last month, it's too fiddly, (mainly because I use full words, abbreviations, capitals, etc.)
I don't know what the average age is on here, but it isn't ten.

Those are mainly acronyms and an abbreviation well known to all,

But, does LOL mean lots of love, or laugh out loud?, there's gr8 inplace of great, m8 for mate, etc,

I think there are several reasons for it's use (on here), idleness, hanging on to youth, longing to be "different", and just to annoy people who still use English.

As I stated in another reply, the name says it all TEXT speak, so please, save it for your teenage friends.

I know that Coastal, just joking. ;)

Textese as some call it is just a form of shorthand IMO. (in my Opinion)
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
