I took some pictures earlier this week from Bridge Street on my way into work.

The side of the Muncipal Bank building that used to be hidden by the old register office -

A view of  the building site -

The new hotel part -

They are a bit dark - it was just about to start raining  ::)

Terrific Judith, thanks for the views. I thought the one side of the Municipal Bank was worth the view. Just hope they do show it off and not hide it.

I am pleased to read in the Mail that the council are putting the brake on the £10m revamp of Centenary Square. They seriously need to reconsider that huge water feature, give it a few more plants, which they're good at, then it will work and save most of that £10m.

£10m is rather excessive isn't it!

Think of what improvements in more deserving places could be achieved with £10m. But I suppose like most of these things, the council will say, the money can only be spent on this area and is not transferable.   ::)

Probably a lot of it is tied to specific developments.  The Council will get Government grants, but only for specific things and they can't divert it to something else - no matter how necessary they are.

Then it's time for a new kind of government   -   a purple one! O0      The 'Leave' campaign have demonstrated the flexibility we need:  today they'll be spending the £350million on the NHS, but tomorrow   -   who knows? ;D
There's no B/S on Planet Malc.

This is how it's looking now.

Obviously, this is taken from Broad Street.  You can see the new HSBC headquarters going up to the left (as you are looking at the picture) of the old Municipal building.

In the background, the tall black & white tiled building (tiled in a similar style to the Cube) is the new Holiday Inn that building work had just started being worked on when this thread started.

We have now moved offices to one on the other side of the courtyard.  Now instead of the lovely view of Gas Street basin we are overlooking said building site.  I will take some pictures from the office window so you can see it in all it's splendour   ;D

Well, here's the view from the office window from Bridge Street towards Broad Street -

You can see the back of the Municipal Bank building halfway up on the left.  The big building in front of Alpha Tower is the HSBC headquarters building.
