I notice the trolley bus wires are in evidence in the pic (apropos of just a comment). Not that that helps with the name of the pub. I wonder if it was a name related to the gas works?
Mike

Mike the name of the pub in question was the BeeHive and it's been mentioned on this forum many times.

Not a name that seems to relate to the gas works then. How old is the pub, do we know? Would it go back to more rural times when there might have been beehives there?

What can I tell you Mike, besides The Beehive being a pretty common name for a public house it was built sometime in the mid 1800's when the area was reasonably built up and in 1900 it was purchased by Ansells Brewery and it closed for business in late 1966.

There are many subjects on this forum that have been discussed on many occasions, unfortunately not everybody has a memory as good as others. Also what about new members who haven't had the opportunity to be involved in past discussions? I'm sure they would like to ask questions and maybe some of the questions have being asked before and the newbies would be none the wiser!

Thanks Mike I owe you a pint.

Looking across the Bull Ring from Park Street in the 1930, then again in the 1970's and finally 2019.

Remarkable. It's a wonder the church has survived - I'll bet there have been drawing board plans to sweep it aside over the years.

I doubt that even Birmingham Council would allow that, its been there since 1263 in one form or other. It has been rebuilt, reshaped remodelled in that time the latest in 1873, except for some rebuilding after it was bombed during the last war.

I just realised that I placed this post on the wrong thread so I have moved it here.
