What happened to the tower on the building on the right?

All I know about Sutton is when I used to visit the park on the odd bank holiday Monday. It was either Sutton Park or the Lickey Hills, I do know that the building was the original town hall and that they moved to King Edwards Square in the early 1900's in a building that was formerly a hotel. I suppose the tower needed some work carrying out and the new owners decided that partial demolition was the cheapest answer.

Walking past the town hall we come to Upper Clifton St, walking down the hill if we turn right at Park St we come to Sutton Park town gate.

just a little further into the park, looking across  the car park where once stood the Crystal Palace & Fun Fair and where Windley Leisure Centres tennis courts now are laid out behind the hedgerow.
