Do you know that when the music was playing and there was dancing the plate glass window downstairs used to move and bend.   I remember the Erdington Meat Company, just back from there was there not a milk bar?   Although we always started at the Acorn and then went down the Palace for the dancing, but after it opened, we converted to the Charlton for a while.   Friday night The Cabin in the City Centre, Saturday night The Palace or the Charlton and Sunday night The Crib in Kingsland ingredients.    Then we finished our National Service and The Plaza was our Saturday night destination.   The joy of taking a young lady all the way home on a night service bus, to see her disappear straight away indoors, the door opened by a fierce looking (clad for bed) father, turning round and seeing the bus going back to the City Centre, so it meant a long wait at least in town all the night services departed at the same time, home with the Sunday Mercury at 4 or 5am.   Those were the days.
