I can tell you that the boatman's hall was still there in 1955, but according to the information I have it was gone by 1961.

Phil thinking back the building albeit in another capacity , I cannot remember a space of any sort being there

I think they built the NCP car park there in the early 60's and it was certainly gone when we used to cut through that way backwards and forwards between the Ringway Club, the Crown and the Tow Rope Cafe in 66, 67 & 68

Ok Phil I used to court a girl from West Heath about that time and used to walk her down Holliday Street to John Bright St to catch her bus home service  41 , I must have been blind can't say I noticed it

One for you the corner of Bridge Street and Holliday Street going back to when it was The Boatmans Hall on the corner.
Another building has been added to the plot since the third image was taken  ;D  I have a lovely view of that building site out of the window the one side of where I sit.  The view out of the window in the opposite direction has canal glimpses so much better.

I still can't find anything about the cottages on the opposite corner (you can just see the edge of them on the left hand side of the middle image).

Yes Phil I realise that now , my excuse was either involuntary blindness , or head over heels in love

There are building that I have passed a thousand times in my youth that I haven't the slightest memory of, for the simple reason at that time they were of no interest to me.
