No it was on the opposite corner to where the Swan was, if you look behind the clock on the "then" photo you will see the Old Swan, as you can see the building that replaced the new Swan on the "now" photo.

Although Colliers remained until the 1970's I think the garage went in the 1960's when the road was widened and made into an underpass. Though later in the 70's the whole site was taken over by B & Q and since then it has had several different owners, the latest being Farm Foods I believe.

Standing in the Bull Ring outside Woolworths looking down Spiceal Street in 1959, and the same view today.
Oh dear...

It's stretching things to call it a 'view' these days  ::)

Judith I couldn't agree more, it looks like a collection of sheds to me, I think they build this way today because buildings have a life span of far less now than they used to.

It was a police call box for use in the days before mobile phones and personal radios, when public call boxes were not on every street corner as they later became.

Gas Street canal basin back in the day, in reality this frontage view looks no different than today. It's the background that has changed,

I've just seen that when I said the box on the photo of Aston Hall Road was a police call box I was more than likely in error, it's actually a street pillar fire alarm.
