« on: May 30, 2017, 11:37:13 AM »
Sad to hear that Forum member Graham Webb passed away over the weekend in Gent Belgium,Graham used to work at BSA in Small Heath before finding Fame in Holland winning the 1967 World Championship in Heerlen.

He was a former member of The Birmingham RCC & The Solihull CC and won many local many races inc Time Trials,Road Races & even Track races at Salford Park Aston where he broke the British one hour cycling record!..

Graham spent most of his years after his retirement from Pro Cycling working in the Steelworks in Gent and had suffered bad health for a number of years.

RIP Graham a Great Brummie!.

Pic of Graham Webb in 1965 the Solihull cc team riding in the Team Pursuit at Salford Park Aston,Trevor Bull leading Graham Webb followed by Roy Cromack,Andy King.
Also pic of Graham beating the British  hour record also at Salford Park which must have been one of his last races before uprooting & settling in Holland..last pic is Graham winning a race probably 1964 at Small Heath park just a few 100 yards from he BSA factory where Graham worked.

RIP Graham.

Beryl Burton and Graham Webb after they had both helped GB to a Golden Day in Heerlen Holland in 1967 when on a Glorious Saturday they both won world Golds in the road races!,Beryl won hers in the mornings ladies road race then Graham won the Mens Amateur Road Race.

Graham in his world champions jersey emblazoned with the World Champions Rainbow bands, hip signed pro for 1968 for Mercier BP but it was not a good season for him and he was badly treated by the French after he suffered knee problems which ended his pro career,he settled into the Belgian way of life and ended his days in Gent.

RIP Graham,A True Brummie Legend.
