Beer at Home
« on: August 03, 2017, 09:00:56 PM »

Did anyone stand outside the windows of Davenports on Bath Row , I used to regularly when I was a youngster . I was overwhelmed by it all bottles going hither and thither then finally they were filled with beer .

Remember the song Beer at home means Davenports
That's the beer lots of Cheer
Soon you'll know why folks all say
                                 Beer at home means Davenports
                                       CHEERS

Regards John

My Mum put in an order to Davenport's at one time imagining therefore that Dad might not be tempted to go to the Wagon & Horses (Sheldon) every night. Some hope.

I had it delivered for a time in the 70's I found it rather dear for what I had .

One of our neighbours, when we lived at Cheswick Green, had a weekly delivery of Davenports, boy did we think he was posh :)

When I did my HNC Chemistry at Birmingham Poly in the 80s we visited the brewery as part of the course.  It was fascinating especially the fact that they drew their water from wells hundreds of feet below.  Their Top Brew deluxe was absolute fire water!
My gran used to have their beer delivered and her delivery driver appeared at the end of this advert. We thought it wonderful to know someone who had been on the telly!
