When the Morgan packed up, we bought a Spitfire Mk 3 (like the one in the photo - but no wire wheels) and we loved it. When the first child came, we could wedge the carrycot in the gap behind the seats but regrettably forced to sell it when the second child was due.

However, when I finally got the Morgan mobile again, it was the only car I've ever sold for a profit.
Oddly enough I sold both my spitfires at a profit, never before did I sell a car at a profit. With both spitfires people approached me and asked to sell. Coincidentally at the time I was thinking of selling.

Oh yes, Escort Mk 1 twin cam. I think later called the Escort Mexico. There was a lad in Chelmsley Wood that had one of these in about 1970. Us lads if we saw him by his car, we'd get him to open the bonnet so we could see the twin cam engine  O0

Ford Escort estate , a reps car I had access too, drove it straight into a lamppost under the influence  on Winson Green Rd in the 70's . It was lobster red in colour M reg that years model in fact . Never been behind a wheel since , I cannot drive and decided that's the way it was going to be . Thankfully no-one was there and no other vehicle involved.
If voting made any difference , they wouldn't let us do it.

I think Ford really cornered the market back then. As a young teenager I couldn't wait to see the new models coming out. The. Mk 4 Cortina, what styling it had, back in the day. We went on holiday to Great Yarmouth. Dad had borrowed my brothers standard 8 cine camera. I was allowed to use it when we were out. Problem was I spotted a Mk4 Cortina GXL coming down the road, I had to film it and then a M4 Cortina GT with built in head rests, I had to film it. Anyway, the film went off to e processed. When it came back there was a about 10 minutes of holiday, the remainder was Ford Cortina's.  ;D O0

Are you thinking of the Lotus Cortina? The Mk 1's were white with green stripe. The Mk 2's, some were Maroon. A mate of mine from the Crown at Monkspath had a maroon Mk 2. They were very quick motors. We sometimes went over to the Queens Head, Stoke Pound near Bromsgrove. He was driving at 100 MPH down the narrow country lanes. Mad fool, but the car had incredible power, handling and brakes. It was an experience, but I went in my own car after that.  :D
