Hi Colinf

Have you looked in this thread,

http://www.birminghamforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=1513.msg26318#msg26318

As I would imagine that most photos and reminisces about Alum Rock would already be posted there.
Phil died in 2020. RIP.

Hello Harry
I remember Fosters Menswear, bought a hat from there once. There were a few shops along there.
Best wishes
Gerald.

I used to out with a girl that worked in Woolworth top of Alum Rock. We also used a café that was a little further down, spent all day on the pinball machines instead of doing Maths, English, Science and a lot more crap.
Was it a vision, or a waking dream?

Our football team used to meet in the cafe up from the Grand cinema every Sunday night ,then we would go to the Bullriing to have a go at the men on the soapboxes on about religion and such. This was 1956-7 .
Make every day a day to remember
Because this ain't no rehearsal
And you ain't coming back
