If you mean the machine outside Dawsons shop then it was an ice cream vending machine.

Wow what a trip down Memory Lane! I used to catch the number 11 at the Kings Head Bearwood ( after the 9) every weekday and go to Harborne to catch the 12 to go to school (Bartley Green). But I regularlly caught it to go to the cinema in Selly Oak or meet friends in Cotteridge. It was also part of my journey to the Ritz in Kings Heath. And like others , when I was 11 or 12, if it was a really cold night together with a few friends we would sit on the top deck at the back of the bus on the long seat and do the circuit with a bottle of pop and maybe an orange ... it was a warm night out!
Onwards and upwards!

I was in Stechford these past couple of days for a funeral at the Corpus Christi church near the station.  The road outside the station was completely flooded yesterday morning.

Incidentally, I did get the 11c on the way back on Tuesday night.  I was dropped at the Swan Yardley & got the 11c from there to Selly Oak!

Next comes the shopping parade up to the bank on the corner of Lyttleton Road with the Co-op and Masonic Hall up to the junction of Manor Road on the other side of Station Road. On the other corner of Lyttleton Road is The North Star public house.

Great pictures Phil that bring back lots of memories among which were delightful visits to Blakesley Hall. Have you any pictures of the interior of this great place?
