Photo 66, I walked straight into one of those phone boxes when I was about 4 years old, holding moms hand, I was probably looking elsewhere them, WACK!! Followed by a clip around the ear off mom for not looking where I was going. I then ended up in the fishmongers with ice on the lump on my head  :D

WE are now turning into Westley Road passing The New Inns public house, next we pass the Warwick Cinema later turned into a bowling alley and laser quest. Then it's the Westley Hotel which is not a bad place for a bite to eat.

The Westley Hotel was a preferred venue for my family wedding receptions.  I think the first time I went was for an aunt's wedding reception when I was really little & several of my cousins had them there too.  There was silver service waiting, which seemed very posh.

Heading along Fox Hollies Road we pass the gates of the once home of the Walker Family Fox Hollies Hall gone now of course, just a little further along and we pass the York pub on the corner of York Road. Then at the Hall Green parish church we make a right turn into School Road.

I was based at Acocks Green Garage for 8 or 9 years, I must have driven past those gates countless times to and from work, as a driver on the desert, and quite a few times since, but I had no idea what they were  O0

If you had been driving your number 11 bus before 1937 and stopped at the bus stop that was outside those gates and you looked through them you would have seen this view.

We travel along School Road to Stratford Road where if we looked to the left at one rime we would have seen Cole Bank School next door to the Horseshoe pub. Back then before the end of the 50's before the junction was straightened out we would have made a right turn and then a left one into Cole Bank Road on the left side of the road would have been the Hazlemoor Cafe  and looking back toward Stratford Road it would look a little different than it does today.
