I don't think there is any dispute about it being Brummie. Do you know of any school blazer badges or school tie that had the Arm & Hammer emblem embroidered on it?

Had a quick internet search no luck. Best option I think is to take up Phil's suggestion and contact Fattorinis.

I think it reads CSS and could stand for Council Special Schools, such as the schools for the deaf, blind, mentally handicapped etc.

You know the shape of the medal may have something to do with it origins. Didn't the Knights Hospitalers have a cross like that on their shield? The Hospital badge for Charting Cross hospital is the same shape.


Well, before we all get cross, I think James is picking up Phils idea.....

That was my first thought Rob but unfortunately I can't find an example of the school badge. Perhaps the initials could stand for Central Sports Society ;D  Just a thought.
