In the late 40s my wife her name was Wathen went for a good few years to the Sunday School in the church on the flat,she still as the little Bible she was given for good attendance.Still keeps it by her side of the bed.

thought it would be the one....times i have walked past it when our mom used to drag me shopping down the flat...a memory that has always stuck with me is seeing what then seemed liked 100s of rabbits hanging upside down outside one of the shops

When we started courting in1958 at Xmas she used to take me on the flat  and see all the chickens and turkeys hanging up outside the butchers what a lovely time that was so different from today

My future wife's AuntyBetty Overy had the fish& chip shop for many years on the Flat on the cross road by Ford St.

edmund i know someone who lived in ford st who most likely used your aunt bettys chippy...they knew how to cook chips in those days O0
