Hi Kingshaney

I think you will have to be a bit more specific about the Birmingham nightclub. My clubbing days had finished by the 80's as I was no longer looking for female company (married) and I had found cheaper places to drink myself silly by then. Have you at least a road name or local landmark to go by.

As I say, not my era, but I would plump for either The Rum Runner which closed for demolition in the mid 80's or Barbarellas. Take a look at these two photo see if they help you remember

No I believe the club was owned by Eddie Fewtrell, and I'm not certain but I think this club was closed by the 80's. Perhaps someone a little younger than myself will be able to confirm this for you. I know the area where the club was situated was demolished in the mid 80's.

Kingshaney The Rum runner was definitely on Broad Street, but im sure there was another club up by 5 ways. I know there was an all night café there and no not the Tow Rope think it was called Saints and Sinners. But this was the 70s is that to early? The name may come to me you never know.
Was it a vision, or a waking dream?

Sorry Kingshaney, I think I misread your post, the Rum Runner was opened in 1964 as a casino by Don Berrow with a couple of partners. In the 70's his sons Peter & Paul took over the running and revamped the premises. Although Duran Duran were the resident band there for a while I don't think they ever owned part of the club.

Yes it was the Rum Runner. My sister and I used to spend every weekend there. Duran Duran was formed in the Rum Runner.
