I believe this photo was taken around 1966.

Being honest I haven't a clue but I would suggest that it's an Ansells House and it's on a main road. I'll try a search through my pub photos and see if I can come up with anything.

I've been trying to clear this photo up for a better look and I see that the signage on the front of the pub has been digitally covered up, is this part of some competition to identify it?

Phil,

Thank you for the reply. Nope, it’s not a competition and as far as i am aware, it’s not been digitally tampered with.

OldPubMan It looks to me like a pub in Aston.
Was it a vision, or a waking dream?

Apparently it was near, or, across the road from this place place - which is, i believe, called ‘Isaac Shaw Aston Metal Works’.

Isaac Shaw Metal Works was at 44 High Street Aston, next door at number 42 was The Malt Shovel public house. If you look at your first photo you will see the second photo is the building next door to the pub you are looking for. What you cant see is that the pub is between the metal works and the Orient Cinema.

This photo shows the pub, but sadly from a different angle, but they are the same pub.

When you have been collecting photos and information as long as Phil the Moderator has, his knowledge of Birmingham rivals Carl Chinn. In fact in my opinion his knowledge of Birmingham is far greater than Carl's. The only reason Carl gets more acknowledgment is because he is a celebrity.
