Le Galleria Restaurant
« on: January 24, 2019, 06:22:57 PM »
Hi all

I hope we are all keeping warm with this cold weather spell we are having in Brum.

I’m searching for any photographs of the Galleria Restaurant that was located behind the old Central Library.

I popped the question to my wife there and would like to have a photograph of it.

Thank you

Carl

I've never been in here in my life, the main reason being I cannot stand Italian food. I'm not even sure it's the right place but it was on Paradise Place which I assume was at the back of the old central library as you called it, but the old central library to me was on Edmund Street - Ratcliff Place.

I think your photo is possibly where they moved to when the demolished the central library. Looking at my photo it looks like one of Gino's places to me the chap who had the places in the Bull Ring Centre and on the Ringway and on what is now Grand Central Plaza. I have to be honest I never liked him or his food and only drank coffee when in one of his places.

Hi Phil & Roy

The photo that Phil contributed is the one, I remember being a back of nerves when I proposed to my wife.

If I’m honest I cannot remember the food, but I never visited the restaurant after that evening so maybe my wife and I were not impressed, I’m not a great fan of Italian food, my tastes being the great British food and Indian.

My favourite Indian being the Merrymaid pub in Highgate.

Thank you to you both for your input and photographs
