maryjoseph,

It does pay to look back in here from time to time, I imagine this place was the same as the Grotto Coffee Bar a 7 Bromsgrove Street which was two door up from the Black Swan on the corner of Market Street. In this photo it is the brown fronted building on the right by the fire engine,

Hi Mary. What years are you talking about? The only café I can remember on Bromsgrove Street was the Mexicarno. There was an underground drinking place but that was called the Catacombs.
Was it a vision, or a waking dream?

phil do not know if you will read this message but I used the grooto every Saturday night with some mates you had to go into a café pay your money then you went through a turn stile and down stairs to the club it was a bit dingy but we had a load of laughs students used the place as it was a cheap night cider was rough had to pick the wood out of glass before you could drink it best to put a bit of black currant in it to kill the taste my god were as the years gone the club went onto jazz for some reason not into it so stopped going shame had some good times their
