Do you know wot? You can't have too many Christmas Trees - at least that's what Mrs Monkey says - we've got 3 already and it's only December 1st - My Bah Humbug! T shirt has clearly lost it's power.
Peg.
P.S. Do you remember the good old days when you couldn't get the tree lights to work until Christmas was nearly over?

Peg,Typical don't suppose they'll get a 🦃 either
Lucky to get egg and chips these days, Ed.
I thought my T shirt was working when Mrs Monkey said only 3 trees this year - I'd forgot all about the Christmas Cushion covers -  everywhere.

Lewis's - what a sad loss, the Toy Depts must have given pleasure to millions of youngsters over the years, particularly at Christmas time.
Peg.
P.S. I don't think I've spelt Meccanno correctly.
P.P.S. Who remembers Davenport's slogan?

With the festive season approaching now is a good time to start shaping up you party piece - I have one: I can make a plate of sausage rolls disappear.
Anyway, in the 50s, age 8-10, I was part of a carol singing trio who performed in the pubs around Hockley - we were so bad we were paid to stop singing, anyway one of the trio, Jim (can't remember his real name) could play the spoons well, infact once he was up to speed he sounded remarkably like a Vickers machine gun, and so enthusiastically did he perform (using every inch of his anatomy) he was bruised black and blue by the end of the evening.
Never heard Silent Night with spoons accompanyment? You do not know what you are missing.

One of my most memorable Christmas presents from my parents when I was about 4 was a carpenter's set - all working tools just in miniature, I remember it was made in Poland and the rule had mm divisions -  it was no doubt instrumental in me getting a grade 4 CSE Woodwork some years later!! :-[
