Boris has already secured a trade deal with the North Pole.     O0

Anybody get a Virtual Reality Headset for Christmas? I would have liked one but I've  been banned from owning one by Mrs M on the basis she likes to know exactly what I am watching :-\ .

There aren't many positions where being born in the right place makes you perfect for the job :-[ .

Has you Brummie Accent been a help or a hinderance in your career? Us Brummies can run but we can't hide, with an accent that is only second to the scouse in unpopularity (according to one survey) perhaps we were born disadvantaged. Some years ago I applied for a job in a major motor component factory in Coventry, the assistant manager who interviewed me was a cute brunnette from Harborne with a Brummie Accent as broad as mine - I go the job.

I was on holiday many years ago staying in the small fishing town of Golant on the Fowey River, S. Cornwall, there was nothing in  the way of leisure other than The Cormorant Pub (which served more than a reasonable steak chasseur) anyway one Saturday lunchtime Mrs M and me were enjoying a drink when I got the feeling I was being watched, we had a few drinks and then got ready to leave when a older lady from a nearby table approached me and said I'm fascinated by your accent, where are you from?
I think that was one of the rare occasions I wasn't instantly recognised as a Brummie - maybe she'd been born on an off-world colony and her ship had docked that day. :-\

Christmas 1958 - I'm aged 9 and living in Heaton St, Hockley my present was a Hornby Doublo Train Set - Fantastic loco: Stanier Black 5, purchased by my Mom and Dad from Grey's - wonderful dept store (nearly as good as Lewis's) - became Debenhams and, correct me if I wrong, Hamley's and then Toys R Us.

Peg, mentioning Golant, you`ve brought back a memory for me. In the 60`s I used to travel the area selling an industrial product. I had a customer in Golant. Whenever I went there he was messing about in his boat mid-river. I had to yell my lungs out to attract his attention. Eventually he`d deign to come ashore.
Happy days.
