Supermarket above New Street Station 1976
« on: August 11, 2020, 10:00:31 PM »
Hello, I suspect this has been answered already but here goes. During the 1970's I worked at a supermarket in the top right corner of New Street Station. I wondered if this was ASDA? If not, anyone know what it was? Anyway, a little story about this. A number of us till operators were called into the office and told that our tills were short and accused of theft. We were sacked. A few months later, there was a piece in the Evening Mail about a manager who was going to court for stealing from the tills. Didn't make me feel any better. I have a feeling this bloke also was a manager at Midland Educational. A dapper bloke but a rascal all the same.
Now, where did I put my time machine ....
