White Horse Birmingham Glass Bottle
« on: September 22, 2020, 05:12:02 PM »
I have in my possession a clear glass bottle with “White Horse Birmingham” simply written around the base. The bottle looks quite old and I would love to know a bit of history of where it originated from.

The White Horse pub in Harborne has a long history, possibly connected with that establishment?

Thanks for the reply. I did look at the White Horse in Harborne but I couldn’t find anything to suggest they brewed or produced mineral water. The bottle style suggests mineral water.

Are you sure it was mineral water? What size was the bottle?

It’s 20 and cm tall and 18cm around the base. The best way I can describe it is that it is clear glass and similar to the old small Schweppes tonic water bottles. The glass is quite thick which suggests there is some age to it. “White Horse”  and “Birmingham” are in small lettering around the base, the rest of the bottle is plain clear glass.

There was a White Horse pub at the bottom of New John St West on the corner of New Town Row

In the 1890 Kellys there are 8 White Horses listed in Birmingham
