Phil,

Just been re-reading through this topic and spotted your subtle joke – didn't see it before . . .  ;D

Beryl missed it too!   ;)

I know this is an old thread, but I've only just browsed through it. Great to see a shot of the Calthorpe Arms; I went out (and stayed in sometimes!) with the landlord's daughter in the mid-60s, when we were about 16 or so. I remember I had to cover a great chunk of the Outer Circle bus route to get there.....but it was worth it!

I remember well the Calthorpe Arms when dad and grandad who lived nextt door to us on Westminster Rd would wander up for a drink -

My you bring back warm happy memories of me growing up - when they were all alive - thank you Phil and Mikey for that

I wasn't ateenager in Brum....but when I was 6 in Brum I had a crush on a girl at my school which I left at that age...BUT seven years later I wrote to her from my home in Oxfordshire and she made me very happy by travelling from Brum just to see me-well done HELEN! ;)

not much - I left and enjoyed life elsewhere although I missed a few faces for a good while.

Hi there
In the early 40s there was a dance band called " ronaldos " based in Sutton Coldfield , I wonder if this could be the one that you danced to ?

Thank you

Elsie
