sorry I did not know of the Giblin,s family although I knew quite a few from that end (lower house#s) a few I recall are [censored], Bates, Thompsom,Greening,Thornton, Andrews, they come to mind.

Being just a poor urchin from the streets of Nechells and Balsall Heath, we were not allowed in such posh places as Kingstanding. Consequently I know little of the district.
I have little knowledge of the location of these photo's, but they may serve to stir the memories of those that do.

you,llnever know what you missed,great place to live in,your pics are lovelyspecially liked the one showig the Odeon cinems that central island used to have railings around it but were taken for scrap in WW2 Then on the left of the picture is the Kingstanding pub before it was re-furbished
I have some pics of Kingstanding which I will send when I know how how to do so

wonder if any of you rember the murder commited there in the late 60s where a bar man was stabbed

hi my fathers second home was the collage arms,he spent more time there than at home, , we lived in twickenham road,just off collage road, kingstanding

You mentioned the railings at the circle being removed during the war, here's a picture of them being reinstated in 1952.

The only memory I have of Kingstanding is demolishing the old Circle community centre inside the new one as they built it around the old one. A complicated and labour intensive job, as I remember it.
