Jasper

I went over there to give the lads the benefit of my experience, all I got was the usual advice which was "boss why don't you [censored] off and leave it to us". So it didn't keep me in work.

A couple more photo's for your album, The Odeon on the day it opened 22nd of July 1935 and the other is of The Golden Hind pub, all I know of that is that it was on Kingstanding Rd. Is it still there?  I heard that the Odeon is a banqueting suite now.

it's where I used to buy all my model aircraft from a great shop they did not have "Airfix" then, they (aircraft" were made of balsa wood.
Who remember "Wheelocks" on the kings road Beggars bush/the Mustard colourde shop he used to ride the "wall of Death" when they had fairs there Oh Memories, they are all coming back

Morena all,
The Golden hind,   1953 Coronation Night, one had had to book
there to get in,  it as you may remember poured all day.The place rocked!!
The place smelt of wet raincoats, hot bodies, different perfumes, booze
of course,   and a wonderful night was had by about 1000 patrons,I say that
cos people came and went in various degrees of soberness..  everyone
celebrating Elizabeth coming to Rule Brittania    ( or something)

Jasper,

In 1953 I was six, all I was worried about was getting enough jelly to eat at the street party and getting my fair share of the sweet ration.

Hi krytonlister

Welcome to the forum, I take it that you are a Red Dwarf fan. Still all kind are welcomed here ;D

Settle in and enjoy yourself, but I think most of the questions you will get asked about Kingstanding will be about before you were born, being as we are mostly pensioners on here. You have got to watch the two old women Chessy and Rosalita they are very partial yo a bit of young stuff.  ::) Watch out for that moderator Roy Ben hes as hot as a poker. Say the least thing out of line and he will be on you like a ton of bricks. :-\

I hope you realise I am only joking.
