I do use meta tags on my digital & 'converted' photos.
The problem is knowing what is on the CDs I have burnt without putting them in the drive.
I suppose I should have a CD with a list of what is on the other CDs
Aghhh!  'aint modern technology wonderful?

I remember when I was small, I used to run down our street ( Cox St West) and run past the shop that was owned by the Deaken family...

Would that be relations of Alan Deakin, the Villa wing-half of the 1960s? I know he came from Balsall Heath area - Dennis Road school I think.

Thanks Andy/Graham. I wonder whether you recall how Deakin sligtly preceded Bobby Moore in the England U-23 ranks - and how he was eclipsed by Moore after not too long. Alan was still a decent player, though - pity he was at Villa at the wrong time.

Surprise, surprise, just found out that my Great grandparents lived at Nr: 78 Lower Essex St, and later moved to Nr: 61 Sherlock St, but Nr 78 is an even number, and the Stella company were odd numbers so that make it that my Great grand parents living across the road from there, ( but I dont think Stellas was built then ) because that was back in 1850 +/-,.., ;D

Hi John 2000

Small world!
Could your Great grand parents house be similar to the ones on the left of the snow photo 'Stella' at the beginning of this topic?

Hi Chris93940 ( got it right this time   :-[ ) looking at the way the houses where numbered it seems that the taker of the photo would be standing very close to 78 Lower Essex St, later they ( the family) moved to Sherlock St, which is the street you can see crossing at the bottom of the photo, maybe my grand dad drank at the pub just a couple of doors up the street.
it really is a small world, and the beauty of it all is I have a picture of the street where they lived,............... ;D

Chris93940, have you noticed, that on the photo with the snow ( 1947 ?) the factory front is bare. but in the later photo, it has other things fixed to the front,  I wonder why they were not on the snow one, ... ;D

It's possibly Gooch Street? Stella Press maybe?

There is a Stella Tyre too in Lower Essex Street

Could the picture be a bit later 1962 perhaps?

Look at the Forum on "Birmingham Chat", and note my search for directions as given - my quest for finding the area of Wm and Keturah Ashforth's home back around 1820 or so.

"john2000" has been assisting me quite well.  He mentions that you might have a map of this area (Spring Street).

Is King's Norton, Edgsbaston part of Birmingham?

I'm lost.  I'm trying to understand all of this.

(And hello to Andy Capp who helped me with 139 Gerrard Street in this same Forum some months back.)

Please advise, and many thanks.  sh
