Dont know about  DeeBee. but the lane we lived in  at Barr Beacon was the highest point east of the Ural Mountains, hence Little Russia.......

Regular occurence in Winter to have to dig oneself out,we kept a spade
in the kitchen to make a path to get outside.

Jasper & deebee

Did you both live in here, I can understand you being cold. Couldn't you afford glass for the windows and a door doesn't cost that much.

No mate I did,nt live there but it was 7 minutes walk from my house, used to
take the children in a pushchair up to the top and have a picnic...
Round the bottom in Bridle Lane we would pick Blackberries in season ,nice,
BUT I can assure you it was more than chilly in Winter..MrWright had a Donkey
farm, part of it being at the back of my garden .He used to build big walls with bales of hay and corrogated iron for a roof to protect his animals and almost
hand feed most of them,,,,,,Oooo I do go on eh..

This is a picture of my little country place in the wilds of Great Barr. At least I am able to keep the windows glazed and a door in the entrance.

But if the local peasants keep gaining access to the grounds and insist it carrying out that peculiar practice of picnicking and stealing my blackberry's I will soon be in the workhouse.

I have even been told of some woman and her children are attempting to set up house in Farmer Wrights hay store. What next they will want to start building housing estates around here.

Of course I want it all for myself. Isn't that what the rich and landed gentry have wanted through the ages. I don't know where you working class oiks ever got the idea you could plunder our land of precious resources such as Blackberry's and bluebelles.

And now you tell me you have dared to build your hovels on our sacred soil, we should have hung the lot of you when we had the chance or perhaps we should have transported you.

Jasper

I know only too well, and that is why I voted Labour all my life until these watered down Tories that call themselves Nu Labour appeared on the scene.
