Roof Garden
« on: October 10, 2008, 04:50:29 PM »
Is it true or did I dream it, that one of the department stores in Birmingham, used to have a roof garden? I remember my Dad taking me to it, but have no idea where it was.

That was at Lewis's Oldgoose. And what a fabulous place it was. We couldn't wait to run (and we did in those days) all up the stairs just to get on to the roof. Oh the sheer pleasure on a sunny day. Magic.

I remember the queues to Santa's Grotto at Christmass all up the staircase. I never got to sit on Santa's lap and have a photo took. I never got to get a present wrapped in Christmass paper. I don't know why I waited all that time and climbed all them stairs just to look at the grotto.

All together now ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
