I think St Margarets is way up the Birmingham Rd on the way to Walsall, have a feeling its in Chapel Lane just before the Golf Course...........
There is a large motel on the corner now B,ham Rd / Chapel lane
The church school is along the road a bit............

Fred

That would be a little hard to do, put a new church under an old steeple. I have played a part in some strange jobs in my time, but that one I would like to see.

Jasper

Here's a few more. I know I have got a snap of St Margarets church and the Scott Arms. I'll look them out.

Yep, you're dead right there Jasper.

Here's a pic of me the last time I visited Barr Beacon in 1979 . . .

The Towers Pub was diagonal from our house, went there in '88 and it had
had a thorough going over, much flasher than I remember, Lounge with deep
"leather" seats small glass top tables, nice carpet...Copies of ancient flags
on tall poles round the courtyard, looked much better than earlier days......
Scott Arms, to the left of picture was the entrance to the Crown Green
for the bowling club ,  lovely velvet grass not allowed on withut special shoes and that was in the 1950s.. still had lots of little rooms down flagstone corridors........
