Hi There,
I have just been looking at old pics and was delighted to find the area where I lived, even the blocks of flats. I was actually born in Melvina Road. We lived in the flats in Little Hall Road. Duddeston.  I went to St. Annes School!

Hi Elaine

A big welcome to you, what years are you talking about. I'm sure we have other members who went to St Annes.

Thank you!  :) This is great.  I was born in 1957 and lived there until 1964. I visited the area about 10 years ago .  Our flats had been knocked down and new ones built in the same place.  We had a community centre opposite our flat, that is still there!  I have some photos of me in the back yard and our garden as we were on the ground floor. I will find them and scan them in if you like?  Apparently the site of St. Annes is now an industrial estate. We didn't actually get chance to go there though. I would love to see some photos of the place.  I have a school badge still!

If you search through this thread you will find photos of St Annes and Devon Street where it was located, there are several photos of Melvina Rd and Little Hall Rd. I doubt you would be old enough to remember the people that I knew from those flats.

Wow! I will have a look. Thank you so much. the names of the people I remember from Melvina Road are 'Allen'...I went to school with Marina and am in contact of facebook with Raymond.  In our block of flats in Little Hall Rd were 'Catton' and 'Evans'....they moved to those huge tower blocks accross the road.  I wonder what they are doing now!?!

A nice photo of the corner of Henry St and Lupin St taken in 1960, it wouldn't have been long after this that the street disappeared from the face of the earth. I can't say that I remember the shop, but thats probably because I never had cause to use it.

Nice photo Phil its quite funny really although we lived in the same area we seemed to always use the same route to get where we wanted e.g. if I wanted to get to Gt Lister St I used to always walk down Willis St there were a dozen ways to get there but hardly used the others I hardly ever walked down Henry St ,Francis St and Windsor St but they all lead to the same road.Dek

Dek

With me it depended on what part of Great lister St I wanted to get to if I took Henry St or Willis St to get there. As I lived in the middle of the middle section of Francis St it made sense that I would be saving a few hundred yard walking. Though I admit that I used Willis St more often than not.
